Special Election Candidate Profile: Colleen Pannell

I am running for Vice President of the Austin Bellydance Association and would like to share with you information about myself.

First a short bio of some of my qualifications:

  • Founder of the Forged in Fire Dance Troupe 2013-present

  • Founder of Bellydance 4 Everyone 2018

  • Sponsored local, regional and international dancers for workshops and seminars in Bastrop County

  • Worked with multiple business in the Bastrop, Lee, and Travis County areas to establish and run various events and shows

  • Worked with Bastrop Opera House to produce and organize "Trip the Light Fantastic," a fundraiser for the youth acting troupe.

  • Volunteered with the City of Bastrop Main Street Board, working on multiple festivals throughout the year scheduling entertainment for multiple stages and working with vendors.

  • Worked for the City of Elgin as the Assistant to the Community Development Director. Part of my job was working with the multiple boards in the City and help organize festivals such as Hogeye and Western Days.

The vision that I have for the Austin Bellydance Association is an organization that promotes the history and all the different variations that our art form offers. To have more short classes or seminars given by members to educate any and all to learn more about belly dance and its history and all the new things that are ahead. I would also like to see the ABA in our community through festivals, parades, and fundraising events.

I am open to any questions that you may have about my qualifications or what my thoughts and vision is for the Austin Bellydance Association. I look forward to this new board no matter who is on it, and plan to be a part of and support ABA.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
