Why ABA?

The purpose of the Austin Bellydance Association is to provide a common meeting ground for persons with an interest in this form of dance, to provide a supportive atmosphere in which to perform, to expand knowledge of the dance as an art form, to offer special gatherings for members and to serve, educate and benefit our area dance community whenever possible. This organization is open to all students, teachers, professional dancers, musicians, and fans of belly dancing.

ABA has an open membership policy. The only requirement is that you love THE DANCE, whether as a dancer, musician or fan. The officers and members extend a warm invitation to share the entertainment, excitement, energy, enthusiasm and joie de vivre of the Austin Bellydance Association.  Other membership benefits include:

• Monthly electronic newsletter, OPA! delivered to members with articles, events and other bellydance related information submitted by and pertaining to the Austin area dance community and ABA members.

• ABA Video Library (MSWord format)  Videos are available to all active ABA members for a $3 donation per week per video.  The collection resides at Lucila's Dance studio at 1700 S. Lamar.  Please call 416-8800 to schedule your visit.

• Potential performance opportunities within the Austin area for ABA members.  See the Event Calendar or Recurring Events for details.

• Discounts to card-carrying ABA members are offered by Bahaia, Lucila's Boutique and the Eye to Eye Newsletter (from Karavan Studio in San Antonio), Desert Passion show discount, Gypsy Witch Productions; Pat Taylor's Galvanize! Dance & Fitness Studio, Odyssey Theatrical and Printglobe.
